According to a Breaking news on BBC, a huge fire has broken out in a high-rise hotel in central Dubai close to the world's tallest skyscraper, the Burj Khalifa.

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Olonisakin, has warned that female suicide bombers have deployed a new tactic to carry out their nefarious activity. Speaking at the end of year conference with principal staff officers of the Defence Headquarters yesterday Dec. 30th, Olonisakin said that female bombers now get easy access to people's homes by requesting for water to perform ablution.

Soon after receiving the water, they detonate the bombs strapped under their hijabs, killing and destroying lives and properties. He called on Nigerians to be very careful when attending to females asking for water for ablution or any other favours.

Spanish police detain two siblings who kept brother locked in 'inhuman conditions'

Spanish police said Tuesday they had detained two people who kept their 59-year-old brother locked up in "inhuman conditions" in a tiny, roofless room adjoining their home.

The man, who suffers from mental problems, was discovered naked in a tiny room without a roof in the southern town of Dos Hermanas, on a filthy mattress next to which bottles and buckets were laid out for him to go to the toilet, police said in a statement.

Police in the town near Seville made the grisly discovery when they brought his 76-year-old drunk brother back to his home following complaints of disorderly behaviour.

31 year old Latoya Jackson (pictured left) shot her love rival, 29 year old Tiara White at 7pm on Monday Dec. 28th in Orlando, Florida, after an arguement on Facebook over a man. Thankfully, Tiara survived the shooting and is being treated in hospital.

According to Police, Latoya contacted Tiara on Facebook and began taunting her, saying she was dating the man Tiara was pregnant for and threatened to take her and her unborn baby out.

An Indonesian woman was flogged outside a Mosque in Indonesia last week and her crime? For being in 'close proximity' to a man she wasn't married to. This apparently is an offence under Sharia law and the punishment is public caning. Hundreds of people gathered outside the Mosque to watch student Nur Elita caned for showing affectionate behaviour to a fellow university student. An unidentified middle aged man was electrocuted early Sunday morning while trying to steal electric cable at a power supply installation in Kaduna.

Neighbor Esther Williams, has been arrested by the Isheri division of the Lagos State Police Command for pouring hot water on a nursing mother, Mabel Enwongomfon–Umoh.
Williams, allegedly emptied a bucket of hot water on Mabel after they had a little argument on Thursday, December 24, 2015 at around 8pm.

The incident left Mabel, who was still breastfeeding her two-month-old baby, with severe burns on many parts of her body, including her breasts and abdomen and she has not been able to breastfeed her baby since the incident happened.

China passes law against domestic violence

In a landmark decision, China’s Parliament on Monday adopted the country’s first law against domestic violence, bringing traditionally silent abuse victims, including couples who are in live-in relationship, under legal protection.The new law, passed by the Chinese national legislature, prohibits any form of domestic violence, including psychological abuse.
“The country prohibits any form of domestic violence,” reads the new law, which formally defines domestic violence and streamlines the process for obtaining restraining orders – measures long advocated by anti-domestic abuse groups, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.The legislation was approved at the end of a week-long bimonthly session of the National People’s Congress (NPC) Standing Committee.
