4 robbers killed in Rivers State by the Nigerian Police

Four suspected armed robbers who had been terrorising residents of Adam community, in the Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State, were on Monday shot dead by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force.

It was gathered that the gunmen had lodged in a hotel after a robbery when a team of policemen trailed them to their hideout in Oyigbo.

A source said the policemen, who were attached to Adam Police Station, shot and killed the robbers before they (hoodlums) could get hold of their guns.

He noted that the security operatives were led by one Inspector Chris, who ensured that all escape routes in the hotel was blocked.

“The policemen overpowered them inside the hotel before they could return fire,” the source said. The bodies of the hoodlums were said to have been driven to Adam Police Station in Oyigbo.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Nnamdi Omoni, said he was aware of the incident, but would only speak after getting details from the Afam DPO.
